The Climate Industry Is Almost Entirely Focused on CO₂. N₂O and F-Gases Are Being Ignored.

Global DACCS (Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage) investments, carbon markets, and urban climate technology are overwhelmingly concentrated on CO₂ — the lowest-GWP greenhouse gas. Nitrous oxide (N₂O) and fluorinated compounds — with 273× to tens-of-thousands times the warming impact of CO₂ — remain largely unaddressed, with almost no dedicated infrastructure. And DACCS itself faces a growing sustainability problem: its energy intensity raises real questions about whether it creates more emissions than it removes.
